Susan G. Komen for the Cure was formed in 1982 as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation with a promise between two sisters. We are now shifting into another gear, recommitting to finally, once and for all, finish what we started, with a renewed and impassioned mission. That mission incorporates a $1 billion commitment and a host of initiatives designed to support our promise to end breast cancer forever.
The Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is also working to keep the promise. Our signature event, Race for the Cure® has been bringing the community together in the fight against breast cancer since 2001. And year round the local Affiliate conducts outreach and funds grant programs to provide breast cancer education, screening and treatment support.
