The Impact of Fundraising

Why do we ask Race participants to fundraise at the Race for the Cure®? 

It's true that registering for the Race for the Cure® and showing up on Race Day will raise awareness...but it's your fundraising dollars that will help us save lives and find the cures.

A majority of the money we grant out to fund lifesaving education, screening and treatment services for the medically underserved in the eight counties of Western New York come from the funds raised through our Race for the Cure participants, not the registration fees. When someone registers, that fee covers the Western New York Affiliate's operating costs of putting on the Race.

We rely on individual participants just like you to make the greatest impact in the fight to save lives end breast cancer. In 2011, our Affiliate granted more than $500,000 to local community programs in our eight county service area. This year we are aiming even higher!   

If you are not currently fundraising consider making a $25.00 donation in addition to your Race registration fee. If you are fundraising, consider going to the next level - if every Race participant raised an average of just $125.00, we could raise over $1 million. Imagine the impact that can make on our community.
