for Good Breast Health

Breast cancer knows no boundary be it age, gender, socio-economic status, or geographical location. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. The key to survival is early detection.

Be Aware --- Take Action

Make these changes part of your life. You are the cure.

1. Annual mammography beginning at age 40
2. Clinical breast exams at least every three years beginning at age 20 and annually at age 40
3. Monthly breast self-examinations for all women beginning at age 20

We’re on a mission to end breast cancer forever!

Susan G. Komen for the Cure started 26 years ago as The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation with a promise between two sisters.  We are now shifting into another gear, recommitting to finally, once and for all, finish what we started, with a renewed and impassioned mission that incorporates a new name and logo, a $1 billion commitment and a host of initiatives designed to support its promise to end breast cancer forever.

Many people know that since 2000, the Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, "Komen Western New York," has been bringing our community together in the fight against breast cancer at our signature event, Race for the Cure®.   What many may NOT know is that behind the Race for the Cure® are the year-round efforts of Komen Western New York and our national organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure to provide breast cancer research, education screening and treatment.
